Frequently asked questions

Can it record sound from my computer?

Yes, where your browser allows it. In Chrome and Edge, choose a tab (or the entire screen on Windows) and tick Share audio. You can also add your microphone and both are mixed into one track.

Why is the recording a WebM file?

WebM is what browsers can record directly on your device without uploading anything. It plays in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and VLC; you can convert it to MP4 with a video converter.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Screen Recorder runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.

Is Screen Recorder really free?

Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, processing happens locally, so it keeps working even if your connection drops.
