How to use AVIF to JPG

  1. Add your AVIF images

Drop one or many .avif files in, or click to browse. They are decoded by your browser and never uploaded.

  2. Pick JPG or PNG

JPG gives small files that open everywhere; set the quality with the slider. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency.

  3. Download

Save each converted image, or all of them as one ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AVIF file?

AVIF is a modern image format based on the AV1 video codec. It makes much smaller files than JPG at the same quality, but older apps, editors and websites can't open it. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the image work everywhere.

Why does it say my AVIF can't be decoded?

The conversion uses your browser's own AVIF decoder, so nothing is uploaded. Current Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and Safari 16 or later, can read AVIF. If you see the message in one of those, the file is probably damaged or incomplete.

What happens to an animated AVIF?

Animated AVIF (an image sequence) is saved as a still image of its first frame. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white; choose PNG to keep them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. AVIF to JPG runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.

Is AVIF to JPG really free?

Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
