Frequently asked questions

Which grading scale does it use?

The common US 4.0 scale: A+ and A are 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C- 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0, D- 0.7 and F 0. Each grade counts in proportion to the course's credits.

What is a weighted GPA?

Many high schools add a bonus for harder classes: +0.5 for honors and +1.0 for AP or IB, so an A in AP counts as 5.0. Failing grades get no bonus. Colleges often recalculate GPA their own way, so check what your school uses.

How do I get my cumulative GPA?

Enter your current GPA and the credits it covers in the previous fields. The calculator combines them with this term's courses, weighting each by credits. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

How are percentages converted?

On the usual 10-point scale: 97–100 is A+, 93–96 A, 90–92 A-, 87–89 B+, and so on down to 60–62 for D-; below 60 is an F. Your school may use a different cut-off.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. GPA Calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
