Can I vectorize a photo?

Yes, but photos turn into a poster-like picture made of flat color areas, and many colors make a large file. Tracing works best on logos, icons, cartoons and line art. For a photo, try 8 to 16 colors and some smoothing.

When should I use black & white mode?

Use it for signatures, stamps, handwriting, line drawings and one-color logos, or to make a cutting file for a Cricut or vinyl cutter. Move the threshold until the lines look right: lower keeps only the darkest parts.

Is my image uploaded to a server?
