Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like my PDF?
No. The tool rebuilds editable text, headings and simple tables from the PDF's text layer, so you can edit it. Complex layouts such as multiple columns, text boxes, and images are not reproduced, and fonts may differ.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Not yet. A scan is a picture of text, so there is no text to rebuild, and the tool tells you so. It works on PDFs created from Word, Google Docs and similar, where you can select the text.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. PDF to Word runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
Is PDF to Word really free?
Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, processing happens locally, so it keeps working even if your connection drops.
