What is the difference between line, word and character comparison?
Line mode marks whole lines as added or removed, which suits code and lists. Word and character modes highlight the exact words or letters that changed inside a line.
Can I compare large files?
Yes. Texts over about 200 KB combined are compared in a background worker so the page stays responsive. Everything runs on your device.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Text Compare runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
Is Text Compare really free?
