Frequently asked questions

Why is the result a square file and not a round one?

Image files are always rectangles. The corners outside the circle are saved as transparent pixels in a PNG, so the picture looks round wherever it is placed. Choose a solid colour instead if the site you upload to doesn't show transparency.

Which size should I pick for a profile picture?

800 px suits most sites (WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Discord, Slack). Pick 1080 px for Instagram or high-resolution screens, and 400 px for a small file such as an email signature.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The crop is drawn in your browser on your own device, so your photo never leaves it.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Crop Image to Circle runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.

Is Crop Image to Circle really free?

Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
