Frequently asked questions
What happens when my images are different sizes?
With "same height" (or "same width" when stacked) on, larger images are scaled down to match the smallest one, so nothing is blurred by enlarging. Turn it off to keep every image at its original size; the gaps are filled with the background color.
Will merging reduce the quality of my photos?
No resizing happens unless you ask for matching sizes. PNG keeps every pixel exactly; JPG is saved at high quality (92%). Very large results are scaled down only if they exceed what browsers can draw (16,000 px a side).
Are my images uploaded?
No. The images are merged in your browser, so they never leave your device and nothing is stored after you close the page.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Merge Images runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
Is Merge Images really free?
Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
