How to use Pomodoro Timer

  1. Start a focus session

    Press Start or Space for 25 minutes of focused work. Change the lengths any time in the settings.

  2. Take your breaks

    When the time is up you hear a sound (and can get a notification). Take a short break, with a long one after every 4 sessions.

  3. Keep going

    Turn on auto-start to roll from one session into the next. The time shows in the tab title so you can work in other tabs.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

You work in focused blocks, traditionally 25 minutes, separated by short 5-minute breaks, with a longer break after four blocks. The structure helps you start, stay focused and rest before you tire.

Does it keep time if I switch tabs?

Yes. The timer is based on the clock, not on counting ticks, and the end sound is scheduled ahead of time, so it stays accurate in a background tab. Browser notifications may arrive a few seconds late.

Can I change the durations?

Yes. Set your own focus, short break and long break lengths and how many sessions come before a long break, for example 50/10. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Pomodoro Timer runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
