Frequently asked questions
Does it look like real handwriting?
It uses handwriting-style fonts and adds a small, repeatable wobble to each letter and line, so it looks more natural than plain type. It is meant for notes, mock-ups and crafts, not for passing off work as hand-written where that is not allowed.
Where do the fonts come from, and can I use the images freely?
The fonts (Caveat, Kalam and Gveret Levin) are open source under the SIL Open Font License and are loaded from Google Fonts when you open the tool. Your text is never sent anywhere, and you can use the exported images and PDFs freely.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Text to Handwriting runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
Is Text to Handwriting really free?
Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, processing happens locally, so it keeps working even if your connection drops.
