Frequently asked questions
Can I merge videos with different sizes or formats?
Yes. Clips that don't match are converted to one size (the first clip's, 720p or 1080p) with black bars where the shapes differ, and their sound is evened out. Clips without sound get silence, so the audio stays in sync.
Will merging lower the quality?
Not when all clips share the same size and format, as videos from the same phone usually do: they are joined as they are, in seconds. Mixed clips are re-encoded in H.264 at a high quality setting.
How many videos can I combine, and are they uploaded?
Up to 20 clips at a time. Everything happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded; very long or 4K clips may be slow on phones with little memory.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Merge Videos runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
Is Merge Videos really free?
Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
