Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?
Net WPM counts only correct characters: correct characters divided by 5 (one standard word), divided by the minutes elapsed. Characters per minute is the same count without dividing by 5.
What is a good typing speed?
Most people type 35 to 45 WPM. 60 WPM is above average, and 80 or more is fast. Accuracy matters as much as speed.
How is accuracy measured?
Accuracy is the share of typed characters that match the text. Fixing a mistake with backspace removes it from the count.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Typing Speed Test runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
