Frequently asked questions
How well does the vocal remover work?
It uses quick karaoke mode: it cancels sounds mixed equally into the left and right channels, which is where most lead vocals sit. It works best on older stereo recordings. Reverb, backing vocals panned wide, and modern mixes with a mono-style stereo image can leave traces. It does not use AI separation.
Why does it say my song is mono?
The method compares the left and right channels. If both are identical, as in a mono recording, there is nothing to tell the vocal apart from the music, so it can't work. Use a stereo version of the song.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Vocal Remover runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
Is Vocal Remover really free?
Yes. There's no account and no watermark. A short optional ad, or a 20-second wait, unlocks each download. That's how we keep it free.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, processing happens locally, so it keeps working even if your connection drops.
