Frequently asked questions

What does Remove AI Metadata delete?

C2PA Content Credentials, XMP (including the IPTC AI source type), IPTC, EXIF, comments, and PNG text chunks where Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI store prompts and workflows. Color profiles are kept, and a photo's rotation flag is kept so it still displays upright.

Does it reduce image quality?

Not for JPG, PNG and WebP: the metadata is cut out of the file and the image data is copied as is. AVIF and HEIC are redrawn once and saved as a new file, which can change size slightly.

Does this remove invisible watermarks like SynthID?

No. Invisible watermarks are hidden in the pixels themselves, not in the metadata, so they are not affected. This tool only removes the labels stored alongside the image.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and the files never leave your device.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Remove AI Metadata runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. The only limit is your device's memory. Very large files work best in a desktop browser.
